Larry104 - Like your idea alot. Makes mine look REALLY over engineered! :D Might try a testbuild. I'll probably use my router to make the groove and some MDF.

Keen to help with any design, and have no problem abandoning my build for a better solution.

I think we have the start of something good here...

Larry,
That's an interesting design. How solid is it? It seems like it would be "wiggly".

How well do you think it would hold up long term?

Do you have to have a table saw to make the cuts in the boards, or is there a router bit that could do it?

I like that we are seeing many unorthodox methods. It's this kind of "thinking outside the box" that gets us somewhere!

I actually came up with one flaw while i was looking at my new machine and contemplating changing the z axis to the bearing IN angle idea. I would use it for the Z because it is vertical but on the other axes it will collect dust and fill up. :(
